Changemaker spotlights

Barakat Omomayowa.
building an archive of food, memory and everyday life.

Barakat Omomayowa is an architectural designer, cultural curator and co-founder of KKIVE - a growing creative platform that uses food, film and storytelling to explore memory, identity and belonging. What began as an idea centred around shared meals has continued to evolve into something richer: a living archive of personal histories, everyday rituals and cultural knowledge. Through intimate cooking sessions, conversations and creative documentation, KKIVE creates space for people to tell stories that might otherwise be lost, revealing how food can become a powerful way of understanding ourselves and one another.

Since joining the Level Up Collective, Barakat has been exploring not only how KKIVE can grow, but how to stay true to the ideas that matter most. Rather than pushing towards a predefined destination, we've been helping to build the conditions around her work - creating space to experiment, connecting her with mentors and collaborators, and supporting the development of a vision that continues to take shape.Like all of the young creatives in the Collective, Barakat's journey is still unfolding. We're excited to see where it leads next.Keep scrolling to meet the 2026 changemakers.
